Details on what is needed:Senior Saturday of Savings Program Overview: The Senior Saturday of Savings program is a hands-on initiative designed to equip high school seniors with essential home economics and adulting skills. Through mentorship and training by senior citizens, students will gain financial literacy, budgeting skills, and practical life knowledge to ease their transition into adulthood. Upon completion, (select) participants will receive micro-scholarships to support their next steps. Program Objectives: Equip students with financial literacy and practical life skills. Foster intergenerational learning and mentorship. Provide students with tools to manage personal finances, housing, and employment. Award micro-scholarships to support students' transition into adulthood. Target Audience: High school seniors preparing for independent living. Senior citizens with valuable life experiences willing to mentor and guide. Key Program Activities: Budgeting Basics: Understanding income, expenses, and saving strategies. Smart Shopping & Meal Prep: Teaching grocery budgeting and meal planning. Credit & Banking 101: Exploring credit scores, bank accounts, and responsible borrowing. Housing & Utilities: Learning about rent, mortgages, and essential utilities. Job Readiness & Workplace Skills: Resume writing, interviewing, and professional etiquette. Car Ownership & Maintenance: Understanding insurance, financing, and upkeep. Legal & Civic Responsibilities: Learning about taxes, contracts, and voting rights. Scholarship & College Readiness: Navigating financial aid and scholarship opportunities. Expected Outcomes: Increased financial literacy and confidence in money management. Stronger intergenerational relationships and knowledge sharing. Greater preparedness for independent living and adulthood. Access to financial support through micro-scholarships.
